The Plays I Missed File

It's a thick dossier, but among those I really regret missing is Jason Grote's 1001, which played last year in New York at the Baruch Performing Arts Center and will soon wrap up an acclaimed L.A. run at the Boston Court Theatre in Pasadena. A friend just emailed me this unsolicited praise:
Thought about you...on Friday night, Rob, when we saw a tremendously beautiful play, a fractured re-examination of "The Arabian Nights" called "1001." It's just brimming with ideas--visual, metaphorical, literary, cultural. Really haunting stuff. It was at the awesome Theatre at Boston Court, which had been completely off my radar until recently. Be on the lookout for the play in New York.

Doh!
